Details

During festival season the local people of the Chiapas region in Mexico, buy fowl and pick the feathers with their hands. These feathers are then washed intensively and dried to prepare them for weaving. The wall hangings in the images are examples of the textile created on the loom, however, this technique is not limited to tapestries, and orders with specific designs can be customized. The feathers are available in grey, white or black. Designers can create their own designs and patterns to be woven on the loom.
The backstrap loom weaves with a width of 60 centimeters and usually these 60-centimeter panels are joined together to make big pieces.
The warp used on these panels are always made of linen thread. These tapestries display a specialized craft which can be applied to your very own designs.
