Details

This specific technique of piles of threads stitched and plaited upon each other was envisioned and designed by the Vietnamese artist we work with. A graduate from the Vietnam National Art University, her technique, which she refers to as ‘brush stroke’ embroidery came about when presented with the challenge of creating a ‘lively’ looking Chrysanthemum. The piece in the image was created with thread dyed in fresh marigold flowers and mixed with thread from India, vintage thread from Europe to create a variety of textures for the flower.

The mostly cotton threads are in a variety of 6, 8 or 12 threads and this kind of embroidery can be done on materials like cotton, linen, silk and velvet.
The embroidery shown in this sample is simply an example of the specialized craft which can be applied to your own designs.
