The artisans who weave the feathers live in the highlands of Chiapas in Mexico and are amazing talented people. They never had the opportunity to have an education academically speaking but there hands can do wonders!
The feathers are woven on a backstrap loom. The woven textiels have a 60cm width so the Mexican artisans can join many panels to make one big piece. They always use a linen warp. Gray, white and black feathers are all year round available but it depends on the festivities in Mexico which colour is used.
